Rant

How many people does it take to run an Atlanta convenience store at 7:45 a.m.? Apparently, more than are ever on duty. It took me 15 minutes to get through a line of about 6 people this morning and there were at least 5 clerks on the premises. The hell?

How many semis can overturn on Atlanta highways in one month? I guess we’re going for the world record here. What is the deal with overturned trucks lately? Sheesh. And though I doubt that this morning’s debacle on 285 had anything to do with the backed up mess on Clairmont this morning, I am inclined to blame the whole thing on that truck anyway, just on principle. The wreck on Briarcliff as well.

How many days in one week can Amy be late to work? So far I’m two for two, which is not good odds. Yesterday I remembered at 7:45 that I was expected to be at the Embassy Suites downtown for our annual sales meeting. I was so freaked out that I tore out of the lot with a bag of garbage in the back of my car. The stink was a nice treat for my sinuses when I got back in it at 3 p.m.

Gym Report/Rant

How many broken elliptical machines can one LAFitness have? In the case of ours it could be all of them at the rate this is going. I’m starting to get really irritated by it.

Tanya’s been going a lot with us and still seems to be enjoying it. She prefers the treadmill so there’s no competition with her for a busted elliptical machine. She leaves a bit earlier than Michael and me and then when I get home there is coffee! I like having her there in the morning but I like having the coffee almost as much. My arm workout yesterday was brutal and I’m sore in lots of places.

Other Stuff

My Grandfather Curry is dying. Unfortunately for everyone involved, especially him, he’s doing it slowly and with a lot of pain and depression. Consider sending prayers or thoughts for some comfort his way this week–and the way of my grandmother and mother. It hasn’t been easy for a few years and it’s progressively getting harder and harder on all of them. The man is 92 and in the late stages of congestive heart failure. He’s a good man and a kind man and a man who has long been ready for his reward in the kingdom of heaven he believes is awaiting him. We’re all standing on the shore waiting to wave our goodbyes but for some reason, the damn boat won’t leave. He’s just ready for some peace. Lord grant it.
