Very Cool
Alien on the big screen was just as cool as I expected it to be. And while there was some laughter at the special effects, which really show their age at that size, there was also much jumping out of skin and gasping. The movie is still hella scary.
Gym Report
The summary: As of today I have officially lost 20 pounds. Earlier this week I was able to put on and wear a pair of pants two sizes smaller than the ones I was in when I started all this on June 1. I haven’t measured in weeks so I don’t have an inches lost comparison yet but I’m pretty pleased with my progress.
This morning I tried a new cardio routine by doing 10 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes on the stairmaster and 10 minutes on the elliptical. It was okay and I think will be a pretty good workout now that I have an idea of how to use the machines. You wouldn’t think that a stationary bike could be so damn complicated but these have a million settings and programs and blah blah blah. Furthermore, they insist on monitoring your heart rate the whole time you’re riding, which is fine except that you can’t let go of the damn handles without it barking at you to grab them again. Feh.
The stairmaster is a bitch from hell. That machine can kiss my ass. And yet, I will do it again because I am a glutton for punishment. Eventually I’ll probably throw in 10 minutes on the treadmill as well. This morning it took so damn long to figure everything out that I didn’t really have time to do those last 10.
Wednesday’s weights:
Bench: 12/30lbs. 10/40lbs. 8/50lbs.
Shoulder Press: 12/50lbs. 10/60lbs. 8/70lbs. A new max.
Seated Quad lifts: 12/60lbs. 10/70lbs. 8/80lbs.
Seated Quad Curls: 12/60lbs. 10/80lbs. 8/95lbs. First time on this machine. Took a while to figure out the weight needed.
Lat Pull-downs: 12/70lbs. 10/80lbs. 8/90lbs.
Leg Press: 12/270lbs. 10/320lbs. 8/360lbs. A new max.
Bicep Curls: 12/15lbs. 10/17.5lbs. 8/20lbs.
Overhead Tricep Raises: 12/15lbs. 10/17.5lbs. 8/20lbs.
Shoulder Raises: 12/5lbs. 10/7.5lbs. 8/5lbs. Look how wimpy! I just started doing these and they suck.
Wow, we did a lot on Wednesday, I didn’t realize that. Sheesh.
Pilates Tuesday night was really tough. She worked my butt off. I was also still suffering from the burning quads brought on by walking down from the top of the Tybee Island Lighthouse on Sunday. Who knew that would hurt so much?
I’m not sure where I’m going with the Pilates. I like it a lot one on one with the instructor but I can’t seem to bring myself to attend a mat class. Don’t know what my problem is there. The one on one sessions are really expensive and I’ve just used my last one from the intro package. What to do next? Maybe I should just check out the aerobics schedule at the gym and try some of those classes. We shall see.
