Greetings From Tulsa
It’s only 7:45 a.m. here and as is my habit, I’m the only person awake in the house right now. Tanya’s mom is dozing on the couch, Tyler, Sarah and Tanya are asleep in various bedrooms and I’m lurking around in the study, reading, surfing and teasing the cats. The dog does not respond to me. She’s feeling invaded and would like for all of us extras to please go home. Up until yesterday she wouldn’t even let me open the back door for her to go to the bathroom. And even then, she won’t come to me when I call her to return to the house. It could be argued that this is because she is deaf, but I know better. Jazz cannot be bothered with me.
We had a remarkable Christmas. From the looks of things, somebody in this house knocked over Santa’s electronics store. I got a Palm Pilot and a Garmin GPS unit (!!), Tanya a GameBoy. Together we scored a portable DVD player, which we have decided will see its most use in the bathtub. Now, instead of reading a book in the tub, I’ll be watching season three of Buffy or perhaps Charlie’s Angels.
Sarah got a cam-corder and Tyler a boat-load of DVDs and video games. Adrick, Sarah’s boyfriend, got a completely gigantic boom-box that shook the entire house when he plugged it in. And the Taylor household scored a new flat screen 27″ television. It’s like Best Buy exploded here.
I can’t wait to get my hands on my Palm Pilot, which didn’t arrive on time to go with us to Tulsa so it’s waiting at home. I am very late to arrive in the world of the handheld organizer for many reasons but now that I’m here I’ll admit to being rather excited about it. I’m already shopping for accessories.
We’ve had a great Christmas and a great visit but I think we’re just about ready to head home tomorrow morning. The mojo I asked everyone for last week paid off in a big way and I’ll have an announcement to make in a few days that I’m very excited about. But that didn’t resolve itself until yesterday morning so I spent a good bit of time this week fretting and obsessing over it. So between Christmas and that little anxiety I feel as though I’m crashing from a rush.
Today we’ll probably visit Tanya’s Granddad and maybe see a movie. I’ve got a local cache plugged into my GPS and would like to get a chance to go search for it but we’ll see.
