Hey
By AmyMo on Jan 15, 2004 in Life
Forgive me for a week with no blogging. Honestly, I’ve been busy focusing on other things and just haven’t been in the mood. So here’s a quick update and overview of some of the things I’ve been up to.
2004: The Year of the Abs
Having lost way more weight than I have, Michael has determined that we are now going to focus on our ab muscles EVERY DAY! I don’t think that’s necessary but at least initially I humored him because I was so glad he was back after all the Christmas travel. As a result I spent most of this week doubled over in pain everytime I move my midsection or, God forbid, coughed.
I have resigned to do crunches at least twice a week. Damn him if he wants to hang in that pull-up rack and kill himself. I’ll lay on the floor and grunt instead, thank you very much.
I worked out seven days in a row before realizing it and deciding to give my body a day off today. Sleeping in was lovely.
MARTA
There is a woman who rides MARTA everyday on one of those personal mobility scooters. She drives that little cart all the way to the station from some point on Dresden Road and I swear, my new ongoing nightmare involves hitting her in the dark. She is not playin’ around on that thing and does not give a single shit about traffic. Not one.
My train is regularly full of high school students from Woodward Academy, the private school down in College Park for you non-Atlantans. Interesting thing about these kids is that the girls all seem to know each other and carpool to the train together, chittering away the whole time, while the boys don’t speak a single word to each other or spare so much as a glance in another’s direction. It’s like they’re in rival gangs or something.
Today the woman next to me was reading the Bible, Genesis to be exact. In a 20-minute train ride I never saw her turn a page.
Work
The entire Peachtree Center office complex is littered with perverse sculptures of naked women. There’s one right at the foot of my escalator that I’m going to snap a Palm picture of. I call it Sculpted Butt. It’s name is actually, Femme.
My building is called the Garden something-or-other and is across a skywalk from the Marquis II tower. Everything in a 4-block radius down here is connected by a skywalk. Katie took me on an exterior foot tour yesterday, which was enlightening.
I’ve been really busy and have actual clients and work now, which I’ve handled so far with various degrees of success. I have one customer at the moment who was sold a package that isn’t actually what we provide and he’s very annoyed. Not my fault but I’ve got to try to retain his business. When my manager gets in today I’ll address the problem with him.
Big Fish
Saw it. Loved it. Go see it. Lots and lots of movies make you want to hug your mother. Few movies these days actually make you want to hug your dad. This is one. A friend from a forum I post to mentioned a thing about it she found annoying and while I see her point and concede it, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the fairy tale.
Cooking
Been doing some. Quite a lot actually. I made fish twice and Erin’s brussel sprouts, and chicken coconut soup and lots of really good salads (not cooking but planning and prepping). Seriously, we’ve eaten at home every day since Sunday, which for us is a remarkable feat. Tonight however, we’re ordering in.
And that’s about all I’ve got.
