We’re Here! We’re Queer! And we know how to picnic!

We’ve got a tent, camp chairs, a card table, a cooler full of beer and a cooler full of fruit salad, veggies, cheese and crackers, and bottled water. We’ve got toilet paper, sunscreen, bugspray and hand wipes. We’ve got paper plates, plastic forks, Stomp Tokyo cups and paper towels. Oh, and we’ve got umbrellas and a big plastic tarp.
Atlanta Pride kicks off for us tomorrow morning at “oh dark dreary awful” in the morning. Tanya and I will be hammering tent stakes around 7 a.m. and sipping breves from Caribou while we wait for the party to start. We bought a balloon to mark our spot but it’s already looking rather deflated, so who knows if anyone will be able to see it. Anyway, it’s a big monarch butterfly balloon and we’ll try to get it up there so folks can find us.
And in part, we can celebrate the fact that we finally finished painting all the walls in this apartment that we were silly enough to paint colors in the first place. Lord knows they looked good all year but having to prime them white again was just about the biggest pain in the ass imaginable.
But now we’re ready to kick back and relax for two days and enjoy the company of friends in a setting where we can celebrate ourselves and make fun of everyone else. Heh.
