You Would Think

You Would Think…
That being unemployed would give me nothing but time to watch television. And, you’d be right except that for some reason I’m really not. For the most part, the only things I see right now with any regularity are Law & Order reruns and the Summer Olympics.
And let’s talk about the Olympics. I love them. I also hate them a little. NBC’s coverage has been more or less stellar except for the fact that I can’t stay up late enough to see how anything comes out. I gave up on the Men’s gymnastics finals last night around 11 when I realized we still had two sets to go and they cut back over to swimming.
And from everything I’ve read, Paul Hamm’s final performances were incredible. So that’s frustrating. I love the swimming and I love the gymnastics. I’m really looking forward to some diving and even the kayaking was exciting last night. But I just don’t feel like I’m able to get enough of it because of the hours I’d have to keep to stick with NBC to the end.
Also, Michael Phelps annoys me. Brendan Hansen on the other hand? Love. Him. And Ian Thorpe should be on the American team so I can root whole-heartedly for him without annoying my sister, who insists on only cheering for US team members. So I have to sit there quietly willing Thorpe to win instead of screaming at the television, which is more fun.
I saw shotput last night and walked around the house all night going,”AAARRRRGGGHHH!” The way those fellows do when they chuck that ball. That American shotputter fouled five throws. Not his best night. Poor guy.
So yeah, I’m watching the Olympics and not much else. Amazing Race locations and events were really neat when I was watching it but the contestants were mostly so loathesome I couldn’t care. I’ll try to keep up more now that the dwarf’s sister is out of the race. She sucked.
