Mushrooms, Interviews and a Celebrity Guest Appearance
The Botanical Gardens was our big “event” of the weekend–or so we thought. At least until Sunday morning when Sarah Holland called and said they were on their way to see us. We had a really nice visit with Nicholas and Sarah, with a special celebrity guest appearance by Maggie the wonder dog. Arwen and Miss Kitty hid in the bedroom but Spencer had no fear. Considering that he is my neurotic, freak-out kitty, that was really quite odd.
So that visit really perked things up for us and we were sad to see them leave. They didn’t want to leave either but then they were facing seven more hours in the car. Bleh.
Monday was spent shopping. Most of you know by now that I am in love with the Giant Eagle grocery store. Yesterday I discovered that they have an entire collection of exotic mushrooms, many ranging from $20 to $30 a pound, most of which I’ve never sampled. Just as soon as I get a paycheck in this city I am going to go to town on that mushroom isle. Yes I am. Just sayin’.
Tanya has an interview tomorrow morning so cross your collective cyber fingers and toes that she likes the folks and that the job sounds reasonable. This will be Tanya’s first foray into her preferred field of work in a very long time. She bought a new outfit, realizing that after four years of looking after other people’s children, she didn’t have any grown-up clothes anymore. Babies are hell on shirts.
My phone has been annoyingly silent. I applied for a part-time gig yesterday that I think sounds really fun and I have made inquiries into some project management certification courses but those freaks haven’t contacted me back yet. You’d think they’d want my money.
Saturday, Jennifer and I will be driving north to see Mom’s folks. Beyond that, I’ve got nothin’ in the way of news.
This was sorta like a big, dumb, group e-mail.
Cheers!
