Holiday Blog Challenge

In response to Christopher’s challenge and with help from my mother, I present my favorite holiday sweet thing,

Monkey Bread:

3/4 cup sugar

2 teaspoons cinnamon, divided

4 cans refrigerator biscuits

1 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup margerine

Preheat oven to 350. Mix sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Place in container with a lid, then shake 1 tube of cut biscuits at a time in the sugar mixture. (Cut each biscuit into quarters). Place sugar coated biscuuits in a bundt pan. Mix brown sugar and remaining cinnamon and margerine in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour over biscuits. Bake 30-40 minutes. Yields 10-12 servings. (1 Tablespoon Maple syrup may be added to the melted butter mixture if a maple variation is desired.)

  3. Does it matter what type of fridge biscuits? ‘Cause there are about a zillion, now. I assume just the most basic, non-jumbo, non-country-style, type, right?
    Sounds yummy.

  6. I can’t actually think about a bundt pan without immediately hearing lines from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. “It’s a bundt!” “A booont?” “A bundt!”

  7. I think I’ve actually got a recipe for a savory version–Bacon Monkey Bread–in one of my more embarrassing cookbooks. Haven’t worked up the nerve to try it yet.

  8. That cinammon is some powerful mojo. Even if it’s just the regular old Cassia Cinnamon. E, you might fare better with the Ceylon type. Or it might make you sicker.

  9. No Christopher, Cassia and Ceylon both start with the letter ‘C’ which rules them both right out.

  12. You know, I believe it is possible to block someone from posting comments. I could always check that out. Why don’t you go read your US magazine, catch up on Nick & Jessica and leave us Internet geeks alone, sorority girl.
