The Grammys
Yes, we stayed up and watched the Grammys last night. And I have to admit, I’m glad. Where else could I have heard Fred Durst use the word ‘agreeance’ before a world-wide audience? “And uhhhhhh, let me just say that I hope we’re all in agreeance that this war needs to go away soon.”
What a feeble war protest that was. Between that, Bonnie Raitt’s ‘building peace’ remark and Sheryl Crow’s guitar strap sporting the words, ‘No War’ (the word ‘No’ spent most of her performance hiding behind her hair so that it just looked like her guitar said War), the anti-war movement was not very present last night. A bit surprising considering that the evening boasted some of the nation’s most reverred hippies.
I have so much bile for Avril that I won’t even write about her. Norah Jones, love ya but you really didn’t merit ALL of those grammys. At least two of them belonged to other people. You are a lovely novelty but alas, a novelty you are.
James Taylor never, ever sounds bad. And whoever did the video and effects for all of the musical performances should win an Emmy. That was very cool. Springsteen is terrific but I can’t watch him perform, I’m too worried about his jaw the whole time. Can you say, TMJ? ColdPlay with the New York Phil? Amazing. And Eminem live was a further testimony to his talent–the fool still sounded great.
Now I’m all sleepy and I have to work. We did CDs for the wedding all weekend. CDs are the party favor so there was much copying and labling and printing and cutting and folding, etc. I’d regret the idea if they hadn’t turned out so well.
