Counseling: Bad for the Knees?

The first week I went to see CGC it was a Thursday and there was a snowstorm. When I got home that night I was shuffling (shuffle and variations thereof = my new favorite word) across the parking lot when I hit a patch of ice and WHAM! Landed hard and furious on the pavement on both my knee caps. That actually hurt so bad that I couldn’t get up for a while and I kinda rolled around the parking lot for five or 10 minutes waiting for the pain to subside enough to try standing up. An inspection of my knees revealed that they were in fact, tore up-especially the right one.

Two weeks later I went to see the counselor for the second time. It was also a Thursday and indeed, there was a snowstorm. When I got home that night I was shuffling across the parking lot and…wait for it…WHAM! Slipped and fell down again, smacking only my right knee this time (I am apparently capable of half-learning from experience), essentially re-opening the damage and putting a bruise on top of a bruise.

Last night, a Wednesday, I was on my way home from the counselor after my third visit. There was a snowstorm. This time, however, being intensely cognizant of the bizarre set of circumstances (counselor, snowstorm), I very, very carefully picked my way across the parking lot and into the relative safety of the apartment without reinjuring my knee. Success! I said to myself. The chain is broken!

This morning, a Thursday, Miss Kitty hid under the bed to avoid taking her medicine and being put into the crate to go to the vet’s. What did I do? I went WHAM! down on one knee to get her out from under there. My right knee is all squishy and nasty and stings like hell.

So what is it? Is it the counselor? Is it every-other Thursday? Is it snow storms? Am I just a hopelessly clumsy ass? Tune in two weeks from today to find out.

  1. Knee injuries suck; there’s just no way to avoid continually hurting it, once there is an initial injury.
You and I are quite possibly the two most clumsy people on earth. I’m not sure which of us is “winning.”

  6. I changed my mind about the full lenght bridesmaids dresses and I am now doing black leather mini skirts. Your knees are going to look hot.

  8. I fell down flat on the crowded sidewalk Sunday trying to catch a cab. My knees aren’t hurt as badly as yours, but my pride probably is.
