Weekend Highlights
By AmyMo on Sep 26, 2005 in Life
Ohio State trounced Iowa in the Big Ten season opener.
I watched the game at Jen’s and we jumped around screaming “Go, go, go!” like a couple of beer-fueled guys for three+ hours.
Unlike those guys, however, we also read US magazine during the commercial breaks.
My apartment is finally taking shape. Faced with my mother’s pending visit on Wednesday, I got motivated to unpack the last of the boxes and start to actually find homes for some of the random things that had been piling up in the dining room for lack of obvious placement options.
The kitchen and bathroom got thoroughly cleaned and organized, to the point they can be, without a few specific purchases (like an island or butcher’s block table for the kitchen).
I watched I Heart Huckabees. Really didn’t like it.
I watched Timeline. Completely implausible B-grade action/fantasy flick, which was entirely too watchable considering how crappy the writing was. Paul Walker sucks.
I made my first trip to the recycling center at the Kroger. I’m still a bit confused about plastics, but I think the rule is basically that if it’s a bottle of some variety, it can be recycled. This leaves out things like Gladware, microwave trays, electronics packaging, etc.
Cardboard is pretty straight-forward but I’m disappointed that frozen food packaging is not allowed. I assume there must be some form of plastic-like coating added to the boxes but considering how many of my meals come out of such packages, it’s a real shame.
Other than that, as you can imagine, the bulk of my take-away was beer bottles. Feh.
It’s going to be another jam-packed week at work, including my first official client presentation tomorrow morning. I promised I would iron and I wouldn’t curse. I think I can handle the cursing bit. Talk to me later tonight about the ironing.

You’re silly. Check out surface while you iron.

you do that with your dining room table too, huh?
(isn’t that what they are really for anyway, in this day and age of jamie lee curtis hawking “family day” and asking everyone to sit down with their families for dinner tonight?)
how come you don’t buy “no-iron-required” clothing? silly.

I actually do have a limited selection of nice, no-iron clothing, and in fact was able to wear said clothing this morning and therefore did not iron last night. Hurray!
Trouble is, those options are running low in my closet after working in casual environments for the last few years. I keep saying I need to probably invest in a few new dress clothes but when you wear jeans and khakis to work every day it’s hard to muster up the desire to drop money on nicer things.
