Attack of the Killer Gas Bill and Other Tales
By AmyMo on Jan 23, 2006 in Life
I am single handedly funding the war in Iraq. At least you’d be inclined to think that if you saw my gas bill. They only read meters about every other month. So this month’s bill included my “current month’s” usage and an adjustment to last month’s usage based on their reading, making my gas bill a whopping $480.
In and of itself I realize that it is a drop in the bucket of how much the war is costing–never mind the loss of life, which is a whole ‘nother subject. But that is a big f-ing gas bill for one person in a one-bedroom apartment. That is almost my rent, people.
Also, I’m still freezing because I never set the thermostat above about 66 degrees.
Gah.
This is the blog that nobody writes in anymore. Subsequently, it is the blog that nobody reads either.
I’ve been working an awful lot and when I’m not working I’m sleeping or reading or gaming. Television has been crap so I’m not watching much more than Lost.
CSI and SVU have both disappointed me all year and the much touted third season on the LWord, now four episodes in, is not impressing me either.
And I can’t even start watching American Idol until they get through the auditions. I know that for some people this is the highlight of the season but I just can’t take it.
However, there is hope on the horizon, because this weekend is B-Fest!
Some of you may remember that I attended this festival last year as well and it was surprisingly fun. This year I get to look forward to finally meeting Chris Magyar and Lodore of the Terrarium, in addition to seeing Christopher and Skip (who is now a daddy) and other denizens of the Stomp Tokyo community I’ve come to know and loathe–er, love, over the years.
In addition to all of that, I get a little bit of a vacation, which will be awfully nice right now.
So, expect pictures and stories from my trip sometime next week after I get back.

Um. Yeah, I think that’s too high. Not that I have ever lived (as an adult) anyplace cold. But damn. Do you have storm windows? Decent insulation?

Sheesh! I have a two bedroom and my bill was only $90! (Of course, it’s not quite as cold here, but still!) Ask the leasing office to put in weather stripping around windows and doors, and maybe get some of the plastic film you can put inside your windows.
