Finale Week–Spoiler Free

The television season is wrapping up and I’ll admit to being sorry to see it go. But I’m actually thinking that this summer I may try to catch up on some of the other series I didn’t watch this season, because people are raving about House, Greys Anatomy, 24, Invasion, etc.

I still think Survivor is terrific entertainment. And this season’s cast had a lot to recommend them. It’s the first season that I don’t remember constantly wanting to smack someone for making what seemed like an irrational decision at every step. I never yelled out, “have you lost your mind!! Vote for the other guy!” This group was tight and smart and for the most part, socially functional.

Next up! Suvivor: Cook Islands–Bring back Rupert!

Amazing Race has been fabulous. And I will just say that this is the first time on this or any reality show that I will be perfectly happy with any outcome from this final three teams. But I am still sad that the Geek Couple went home so early.

CSI and SVU were both hit or miss for me this year but I stuck it out. Somehow I doubt the payoffs on either season are going to be great enough to have really made it worth it. I’ll probably stick with them both next year but they’re walking the line. Particularly if something new and interesting comes up next Fall. As if anyone cares if I stop watching, but you know.

Lost, on the other hand, has paid off in spades! What a super season for this show. Almost every episode has been better than the last. Brilliant. How any of us will make it to the third season is beyond me.

NCIS has been a sleeper hit in my house. My mother loves it but it didn’t snag me right away. I kept recording it and watching here and there when I had nothing else going on. But I’ll admit to finally getting sucked in during these last few weeks and am looking forward to the finale.

The resurfacing of Desperate Housewives onto my televsion roster is a direct result of Michael making me watch an episode. That was all it took. I enjoyed the first half of season 1 but at some point I got bored and quit. So here I’ve picked it back up in the second half of season 2 and I have to say, if skipping half a season at a time keeps this show funny for me, it might be worth it. I have laughed out loud. A lot.

So yeah, big week on the television. Guess we all know where I’ll be. Unlike Survivor’s Ciri, I will not be getting off of the couch for a while yet.

  1. Thank you thank you thank you for making this spoiler free; Tivo got Desperate Housewives last night and left me Survivor finale-less.

I have definite faves and anti-faves going into both the Survivor and TAR finales, so we’ll see how that pans out for me.

Desperate Housewives is MESSED UP. Christopher professes not to watch, but he keeps coming in for the latter half and wanting to know what’s going on, I notice. I actually feel bad for Andrew. And Bree, but wow.

  2. I knew you guys were doing the double-feature movie thing yesterday so I was being cautious just for you!

  3. He’s downloaded the finale, so I’ll watch it tonight.

At least I know F’cking SHANE doesn’t win jack. Although I kind of can’t wait to see what absolute crap comes out of his mouth at the finale tribal.

  4. Arrgh. WhatEVER. Two people I like in the final four, and neither one of them makes it to the two?

At least the stupidest survivor in history had enough sense to choose marginally the right person to take with, for her own chances, but I knew she was doomed against either one of them, really. So, the ending was less than shocking.

However, Shane did not disappoint. Was that a woman’s blouse he was wearing? And the insanity! (But who, given a range of 1-1000000, chooses 4? Choose 500000 and make the 2nd person take a risk, you fool!) Plus, Courtney really IS the most annoying, and with Sonic the Hedgehog hair, as a bonus!

  5. I later read that Courtney was apparently speaking English during the entire epsiode, but I could have sworn it was some alien language. I guess perhaps I don’t speak weirdo.

I found Shane rather amusing. He’s such a freak. I bet he’s back to three packs a day.

  6. Ok, I was so bummed when Cirie didn’t get the fire. You know they dragged that spoiler out because she was popular and they didn’t want to lose ratings on Sunday. Also, the commercials only showed her in the lead.

I couldn’t stand Terry. I wasn’t a big fan of the other two but whatever, I really just didn’t want Terry to win.

Now, Amazing Race - Amy, you REALLY would of been happy had Eric and Jeremy won? I don’t think I can be your friend anymore. Those guys were such asses! “We are here to sleep with the competition!” Blech.

I was really glad to see the hippies win cause Ray and Yolanda just were not Chip and Kim worthy.

I’m such a reality TV whore. I feel dirty.

  7. Cindy!

    First: Survivor.

Cirie ruled. So glad the audience gave her a car. Also, Terry was an asshat. If he had made the final two I would have been really disgusted with Danielle. So even though she would have lost either way, she made the right choice. Heh.

Let me just defend my take on the AR final 3. First and foremost, I was in fact rooting for the Hippies. That being said, Ray and Yolanda and Eric and Jeremy did not offend me as possible winners. I did not despise any of them. Eric and Jeremy were tools of the first order, with their sex jokes and high-school hijinks, however, they didn’t fight and bicker with each other, they didn’t throw their pots down and cry in the middle of challenges, and they physically dominated the game. They were good players. Despite the fact that they should be ashamed when their mother’s watch the show. That being said, they pouted at the end, which took them down a level.

Ray and Yolanda fought with each other some but mostly it was amusing and it never escalated to some of the horrible stuff we’ve seen between couples on this show. They also stayed positive, did everything that was thrown at them with little complaint, and were a good underdog team. Even if they were navigationally impaired.

Considering some of the other contestants from this year, I was okay with the final three. If MoJo, or Lake and Michelle or several of the other teams had made it, I’d have felt very differently.

  8. Good points. MoJo and Lake/Michelle got on my nerves. No one this season reached Jonathan/Victoria level lunacy, but I doubt few even can. I’m trying to remember the name of the couple where the guy practically got them arrested for refusing to pay the cab fare. They too were obnoxious.

If I had someone to do that show with AND I were in shape, I’d so try out. Even if I got kicked out in the first round, just to see all those places and travel around the world would be worth it.
