Escapade
We got married and then we flipped right the hell out. First I’ll just say that Saturday night was the single most amazing night of my life and I’ll never, ever be able to put into words how fabulous it was.
Second, our alleged honeymoon in St. Petersburg – not so much. The best way I can explain it is that after the wedding ceremony Tanya and I felt so incredible, so magical and so new, that it seemed completely anti-climatic for us to stay somewhere that we were so familiar with. We love St. Pete, obviously, we both lived there for upwards of 10 years and we chose to get married there. But when the dust settled and everybody went home, we realized that what we really needed was something different.
Therefore, we packed up the car and ran away. We are in Key Largo right now and just witnessed the most amazing sunset. We are staying in a hotel we couldn’t possibly afford if it weren’t for the amazing gifts we received Saturday night and we are absolutely in heaven. We ate crab legs tonight that have spoiled me for a lifetime. They just slid out of the shell in great big pieces and tasted amazing. And the shrimp? The shrimp just popped and melted in you mouth. Oooh, hey, they have a Web site: the Cracked Conch.
This afternoon we went snorkeling off the coast in the Atlantic ocean, swimming around a reef packed with coral and multi-colored fish. We’re so relaxed we’re not sure if we’ve got pulses.
Tanya’s in the kitchen mixing up Key Largo Runners, a mixed up pineapple, coconut rum runner combination that we’ve dubbed in honor of our runaway trip to the keys. Tomorrow we head for Key West for food, shopping and the sunset festival. Love to you all and thanks to everybody. It was and continues to be amazing.
