Snakes!

It is no secret that I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Snakes on a Plane. I blogged about this movie back in January, bought a t-shirt, decorated my cube at work, installed a countdown widget on my hard drive, and generally jumped all over the hype band wagon.

Conventional wisdom would suggest that the film itself would be disappointing after so much hype–kinda like the way Star Wars Episode 1 was for a lot of folks.

People. Run, don’t walk, to the nearest theater you can find and slap down your ticket price. Do not pass go. Do not dither and dally because you think it’s going to be stupid.

That was the most awesome movie I have seen in, well, maybe my whole life.

Remember the first time you saw Jurassic Park? Remember how you jumped clear out of your seat when the t-rex chomped that guy on the toilet? 10x scarier.

Remember in Jaws when the guys says, “we’re gonna need a bigger boat”? 10x funnier.

This film was scary, hilarious, sad, tragic, gross, ridiculous, implausible, romantic, and positively 100% awesome.

My only regret? That I wasn’t able to see it opening night. Christopher had a very cool experience at Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse, where Quentin Tarantino, Rosario Dawson and several other celebs were in attendence, along with live snakes and a host of shenanigans.

I’m seriously debating going back tonight to see if I can catch it with a fuller audience. Karin went with me and we had a blast but there were only about six people at our 1 p.m. showing.

I am still completely high on the glee, two hours later.

Can’t wait to see it again.

Can’t wait to own the DVD.

Can’t stop laughing.

  4. Greg! Whatever.

Jen, no, we didn’t go see it again. But I will before it leaves the theaters. Personally, I think it should just always be showing for the rest of time.

My previous message was a tad more strident than intended.

It was only a movie. No one deserves to be executed for it. Blog on, amymo. Please forgive the intrusion.
