Things I know about myself
By AmyMo on Oct 12, 2006 in Life
I am not capable of working ahead.
If there is not a looming deadline, I’m not doing it.
I was well suited for journalism as a result.
Journalism does not pay the bills or keep a girl in trendy shoes unless you’re Katie Couric or Connie Chung or that chick from CNN with the name nobody can say–Christina AManPour or whatever.
I have an internal panic clock that knows precisely at what point I have to start doing something in order to meet a deadline. Seriously. I don’t miss deadlines. Ever. Regardless of how late to the gate I am starting something. But sometimes I get sloppy when I’m rushing.
This is not a good thing, but it is what it is. And it’s how it has been my entire life. At 34, I really don’t see that changing.
Things I’m enjoying lately:
Hanging out with Julie, Tommy and Jeff in and out of the office.
Spending time with Jen, Chris and Tyler (especially Tyler).
The new television season.
Brazenhead Pub.
Buckeye Football!
Things I’m frustrated about:
The way I’m working right now.
The fact that Julie is moving to England in a month.
Having to go shopping for something fancy to wear to the company anniversary party.
Having to go to the anniversary party by myself (rent-a-date anyone?).
Fear of the pending winter gas bill.
Inability to commit to major purchases.
Things I’m looking forward to:
Seeing my family this weekend and watching the OSU/Michigan State game in High Def.
Ironically, the company anniversary party.
CSI tonight!
Being done with a project I’m working on.
Reading:
The Night Watch: Sarah Waters (I’m savoring it and dragging it out).
Listening:
Still hooked on KT Tunstall
Watching:
CSI, Lost, Survivor, Desperate Housewives, The Wire, Weeds, Law & Order SVU (yum).
Thinking:
More often than not lately: What in the super fuck!?

re: ‘rent a date’. have you ever read the best of craig’s list post wherein a mother attempts to procure a prom date for her son? as i recall, she offered to pay for the date’s dress. tragically funny in that ‘this american life’ + little miss sunshine kinda way.
if you you really need a date, i’d love to go. i’m good at small and large talk and generally a decent date. recent trip to chicago being the exception. i have a couple of black turtleneck sweaters and a nice selection of shoes and wool slacks. i can wear black or grey, so you would have flexibility in your outfit.
re: ‘CSI’. thoughts on grissom and sarah? jorja is a fox. yum.

I haven’t read that but I’m sure it’s hilariously tragic. And just like Craig’s List–a site that never fails to amuse me.
I’m pretty sure that it has been clearly and repeatedly established that it is my turn to come to Seattle. Though the suggestion that I would need flexibility in my outfit amuses me no end.
I like the G/S storyline, actually. And uhm, yeah. Double yum. Also, while the new partner is pretty hot, I’m dying for Mariska Hargitay’s maternity leave to be over on SVU.

Jamie makes an excellent rent-a-date, see what he’s doing!

You could take Tyler since apparently he is your favorite.
What in the super fuck…I love it!!!!

Don’t start with that! He’s your favorite too, fool. You never call, you never come over. It’s all, “I have a baby now and I don’t leave the house” for you. And you like the other Amy better than me!

You are so strange. How are we related again?
AmyMo | Oct 13, 2006 | Reply
dating is not fun
especially when alone
but that’s when we must
samantha | Oct 14, 2006 | Reply
I suspect that’s deep and/or meaningful. I’m not quite sure.
