November 10: Apartments, Hot Cocoa and Bonfires
By AmyMo on Nov 11, 2006 in Life
The co-worker formerly known as London Julie found an apartment yesterday. It only took us about four hours of searching and we saw some surprisingly nice places that really weren’t that badly priced. Only one place actually made ME wish I was moving (which I’m not) and that was the place directly behind my apartment. I have looked at these buildings daily for more than a year and wondered what they were like. Now that I know, I’m going to be perpetually jealous of anyone who moves into them.
But the fact is, I wouldn’t want to rent one of them–I’d want to buy it. More and more my head is moving in that direction. I’ve set a goal for 2007 that will hopefully set me up in that direction for early 2008. Maybe by that point my backyard neighbors will decide to condo out.
After a rather hilarious lunch at a chinese place around the corner that involved about six bowls of cold wonton soup and very confused waiter, we went out separate ways and I spent a quiet afternoon cleaning and doing laundry and listening to Ani Difranco (a taste I’m trying to cultivate for the first time in almost 20 years. She’s growing on me.
Dinner was at Aladdins with OSUJenn and friends and then we hit Caribou for hot chocolate, knitting and hilarity. There were people in Caribou that probably wanted to throw biscotti at us for being so loud. I laughed so hard I had to get up and go to the bathroom at one point. We wrapped it up with a bonfire in Jenn’s backyard with neighbor/landlord/college buddy Greg and his roommate TJ. They’re throwing a gi-normous party tonight and I’m looking foward to the inevitable Columbus “small world” phenomenon of figuring out who all we know in common.
That being said, I think I may finally have contracted the bird flu. Woke up feeling less than healthy with a burn in the back of my throat. DEELightful.

sure hope you are feeling better!!!
