On being a stereotype, and other things.

Across the way at Flickr you will find pictures of a house I’ll be moving into at the end of August. Ellen will also be moving into that house. As in, we are moving in together. This will strike most of you as fast. And it is.
Q: What does a lesbian bring on a second date?
A: A U-Haul.
(insert laugh track here.)
I will say this: I am instinctive but I am not impulsive. And this move is a good thing.
We are also both beside ourselves excited about the house–because it is fabulous.
For now, we are renting. We’re not THAT insane.
For those of you who have followed the “I hate my kitchen” saga, you will understand how obsessed I am with that first picture. Can you say, Double Oven?
There is also a very nice outdoor space and lots of room for guests and gatherings. I’ve been really jonesing to throw a party for the last several months but have had nowhere to do it. That’s about to change.
In other news…
I did not pre-order book seven. Therefore, I will be avoiding the Internet, newsstands and television for some time until I get my copy and plow through it. I am having an anxiety attack about being spoiled this time and am regretting my earlier apathy about this. I think panic set in when I noticed that SafJazz got her’s on Wednesday.
My niece is officially crawling!
Work? Oh Lord, work.
I am principally responsible for the architecture on that site so if you hate it, it’s on me.
There is a metric ton of stuff going on here right now. As a point of reference, when I was hired I think I was employee number 76. That was in June of 05. Today we are at around 194 full-time employees with an additional 60 contractors. All of our desks now have smaller desks growing off of them–we’re referring to these little outcroppings as tumors–as in, “Where do you sit?” “I am a tumor off of AmyMo’s desk.”
There is constantly construction going on in the space in order to create network plugs, phone lines, electrical access and general comfort for more than twice the number of people we were previously wired for. It is both fabulous and tedious (certainly for the folks in facilities).
Coming up:
Tyler’s first birthday!
A visit from Mom!
A visit from Shannon!
Moving!
A visit from Chris, Christina and Elizabeth!
August and September are going to be as busy as March and April but at least I’m not the one traveling.
Cheers!

Congrats Amy. That house is fabulous.

Congrats on everything. BTW, Scholastic called me and asked me not to share the book’s contents. I’m not kidding. I was reading the book when they called. They are sending me a $50 gift certificate and t-shirt. Thanks DeepDiscount!

We can’t wait! Congrats on the house, and all.
As for the book, I just finished at like 2 am last night. I was just as obsessive about avoiding spoilers, and I am so glad I was. Enjoy it.

I’m so, so happy for you, Miss Mo. You deserve all the best life has to offer, including the biggest, best, most top-of-the-line U-Haul ever made!
