The Alleged Blizzard of ‘08

From my Yahoo Weather thingy:

…WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST SATURDAY…

SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO OVERSPREAD THE REGION LATE THIS MORNING AND
THIS AFTERNOON…WITH THREE TO FOUR INCHES POSSIBLE BY THIS
EVENING. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVIER TONIGHT…AND LAST THROUGH
SATURDAY AFTERNOON. FOUR TO FIVE INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED
TONIGHT…WITH AN ADDITIONAL FOUR TO SIX INCHES FALLING SATURDAY
MORNING. SNOW WILL TAPER OFF AND END SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IN
ADDITION… NORTH WINDS AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS WILL
CAUSE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING…AND LIMIT VISIBILITIES TO
NEAR ZERO AT TIMES. BY LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON…A FOOT OR MORE OF
SNOW IS EXPECTED WITH DRIFTS OVER TWO FEET.

REMEMBER…A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER
CONDITIONS ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY.

The volume and anticipated accumulation changes every hour. Earlier this week we heard up to 18 inches, now we’re down to roughly a foot. The snow started about 10 a.m. today and is apparently not going to stop until tomorrow night. And yeah, it’s sticking.

I’m actually really looking forward to having an excuse to stay in my pajamas for the next two days. If the power stays on it will be fabulous.

  1. Seriously, do you even want me to comment on this “blizzard”?

  2. It won’t be a blizzard. But it will be more than we’ve had at one time in several years and it’s super fun on a weekend when I don’t have to go anywhere. :)
