Hurricane Ike in Ohio
By AmyMo on Sep 16, 2008 in Life
Ohio got crazy wind storms on Sunday afternoon that pretty much caused havoc in all four corners of the state. And let me just say that Ohio is a fairly big state. We’re no Texas or anything but for a weather system to cause this much mess across this many miles is super strange in my experience (and really, I did live in Florida for 10 years).
I was waiting for Toto to fly past the window in a bicycle basket with Mrs. Gulch.
I kept thinking, if these winds are this bad THIS far north, what the fuck did Galveston and Houston look like?
Ironically,. many of our electrical repair crews had been dispatched to Houston to assist with the cleanup down there. AEP has been trying to get them all back up here but travel takes time.
Two days later, there are still thousands without power. Ours came back on after only about 9 hours but so many people are still waiting.
There are traffic lights out all over the city still and gas stations are rapidly running out of gas. I’m on dead empty, so this is my current dilemma.
Schools are closed all over.
A tree fell on my parent’s roof and left some damage but they’re both fine.
We still have no cable or internet at home so my social networking is limited to the cell phone, which, by the way, I finally replaced with a shiny new Sanyo Katana.
We’re all okay but it sure was nuts. I mean really, look at that tree.

I can’t believe there is a new entry! We went to Kroger last night and they were waiting for deliveries of almost everything-I have never seen such an empty store. Freaky.
