Gosh, I should update

There is an awful lot going on in the world of Mo and most of it is either happening too fast to keep up with or is taking so much of my attention that I can’t find the time to write about it.

This is easily the busiest, most fabulous quarter my little posse’ at work has had all year. We’ve had some exciting wins, new client engagements and lots and lots of momentum. We’re also practically living together and have all got heads full-to-exploding with information and details related to upwards of 10 projects at any given time. I want Dumbledore’s pensieve to store this info and help me find what I’m looking for. Maybe I need Endeca for my brain.

My first semester in Grad school has been better and harder than I could have hoped. I’m learning so much and having a good time doing it. I’m also grumpy about homework and am not a huge fan of tests. But the classroom time and the readings are generally awesome.

Some of you know that 2008 has been the year of Financial Rehab for me. I started out in January with a plan of attack, determined to adjust my emotional and mental relationship with money. I am extremely pleased with my progress here as we get close to the one-year mark, despite the crazy economic shenanigans going on in the world right now.

That being said, I can pretty much tell you the day-to-day details of every single account with my name or my obligation associated with it, so it came as a surprise to me today when my Sallie Mae account was suddenly in deferment. Apparently the university reported my enrollment and they automatically flipped my repayment status.

Most people would be happy for a get-out-of-jail free card on their student loans but not me. Suze Orman got on my ass earlier this year (electronically) because my undergraduate loans are too damn old and show too little progress (not unlike everything else I owe money on). So a very surprised and confused customer service rep just put them back in repayment status for me. The main point here being that a year ago it would have taken me months to even know that something had changed.

Now I know when ANYTHING changes. Like an interest rate. Like the crazytown balance changes to my 401K during the last two weeks. It’s fascinating. No more head in the sand for me.

Other things of interest in no particular order:

  • Christopher published a new book!.
  • Sister Emily is struggling through the demise of her marriage and subsequent legal and emotional wrangling in regards to their daughter. Prayers and thoughts for her and everyone involved.
  • Ellen is back to school at OSU to complete her undergrad and most likely pursue her master’s. She’s also working a gig in OSUJenn’s office and continues to be a slave to World Market part-time. And she still likes me, so that’s nice. :)
  • Sister JMo is temporarily deaf in one ear after Tyler jammed a q-tip into it, in what has to be the most freakish toddler bathtime incident in many moons.
  • Friend Jamie moved to Cleveland. I miss him.
  • MoJoe Lounge in the Germ has a new menu, complete with signature drinks–one of which is The Persephone!

  1. Hi, Amy! You popped up in a dream of mine the other night… so it’s nice to “see” you here today.

I’m glad life is going well for you overall. I am so sorry to hear about Emily’s marriage. I will pray for them all.

  3. Wow. Considering my current project load, this is kinda like a comment from God. Or maybe the Wizard of Oz. :)
