Salon to the Rescue

I was feeling rather let down by the lack of reverential news coverage of the Buffy finale. Finally today I found this article at Salon. I don’t agree with all of her analysis of the episode but she evokes exactly the level of tribute I was hoping for. You may need to watch an ad to get a free day-pass for the complete article.

One thing that struck me about the finale was the lack of “farewell” gibberish that usually marks the end of a long running series. Commercial breaks during Dawnson’s last episode were packed with interviews and clips and quotes and such. It’s goofy but it adds an acknowledgement that something special is ending. It felt weird that Buffy just sort of ended.
