Idol On Fox
Apparently, American Idol is the only show on the Fox network. It’s like playing Where’s Waldo to find a reference to last night’s finale of Mr. Personality. No follow-up news, no interviews, nothing. CBS does a much better job balancing coverage of all of their programs and providing next-day coverage of their reality series. Just sayin’.
At least UPN is devoting the proper space to tonight’s series finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Life without Buffy is going to be weird, but I’m glad the show is wrapping up. Most people agree that the first three seasons were the show’s best but I also think there have been enough shining moments of the last four to keep most of us satisfied, even when we weren’t sure where things were going (Buffy and Spike) or were completely annoyed (Riley, anyone?). The musical episode alone was worth suffering through a season of dreary self pity. All I know is that Buffy is ending on a higher note certainly than its cult counterpart, the X-Files. The five people who still cared about that show when it finally came crashing to a halt are still wishing they had two years of their lives back. I suspect the Buffy crew will ride off happily into the sunset with our DVD boxed-sets, Internet chat buddies and fond memories. Can any of you actually hear the expression, “I’ve got a theory…” without bursting out with, “Bunnies! bunnies! It must be bunnieees! Or maybe midgets.”
I didn’t think so.
