I Still Love Thursday
Lunch was almost derailed by my uncooperative car. Apparently my battery was dead and I needed a new fan belt. That’s the first chunk of change I’ve had to spend on the car since this time last year when the gear cable snapped off the stick.
Everytime something happens to the poor car I think, THIS IS THE END! I’m going to have to buy a scooter. But I keep getting lucky with repairs that ring in under $200. Somewhere along the line I must have scored some good car karma.
The only bad news about the car is that I’ve got a leaking head gasket, so it’s dripping oil. To repair that is more than $750 and my man SKIP! at the dealer suggested I not bother. With an 11-year old car he just didn’t think it was worth it unless I wanted to go ahead and rebuild the engine. I can’t help but feel guilty about the added environmental hazard. I know, I know. Maybe I should invest in a drip pan and just always slide it under my car whenever I park. Or not.
If my next car is a hybrid, will that make up for it?
